From 17 to 19 September, 2006 was held in Paris the second edition of the ORHOPA fair dedicated to jewellery and specially to Tahitian Pearls as the GIE Perles de Tahiti was the honourable guest of the fair
Consequently, the Tahiti Cultured Pearl was the centre of interests of all the professionals’ glances and it shown of its all colours. It is the only gem to have further increased its market shares in France and worldwide. Proof is the frequentation growing at the fair since last year, more targeted towards jewellery professionals, always interested in the Tahitian pearl jewellery product innovations.
Orhopa was one of the international windows for the work of the Tahiti Cultured Pearl regarding the trends and the creativity of the French and international designers.
The “colours”, the “lengths” with the strings of pearls (“sautoirs”), the “chokers” were the trends shown up with creations of Schmittgall, Tahizea, Porchet, Rambaud, Charmhiti brands…
The French Tahitian Pearl Trophy and some first prices of other countries were also present attracting the professional passes-by always astonished by the creativity of one people and the audacity of the others.
A professionalism illustrated by a collaboration between the GIE Perles de Tahiti and the direction of the Orhopa fair which decided to organize a contest of creativity “Carte Blanche for Black Pearl”; a contest gained by the Golliat and Didier company which created a splendid structured ring where three “wave placed” pearls. They won thus a splendid trophy realized by Dominique Muller.
Showing in Paris Tahiti and her islands was due to the winning toss for a trip to our south pacific paradise thanks to our privileged partners Air Tahiti Nui, the Radisson Tahiti and Pearl Resort and Spa hotels.
And in an ultimate and Polynesian colour, under the notes of Tahiti and its Islands songs and dances, Michel Yip, Minister in charge of Perliculture, had reserved his days to meet of the French Tahitian pearl jewellery market actors, discussing about the whole pearl interests and needs of manufacturers, traders, jewellers, and also of those which make the Tahiti Cultured Pearl, our gardeners of the lagoons, our perliculteurs…
Finally on September 19, 2006, at the evening, Orhopa closed its doors for another year, like the Tahitian pearl oyster, to leave at time the possibility of surely creating us a new pearl… of Tahiti…
