The pearl industry in French Polynesia is made up of three professional producers' organizations, namely:
The Professional Pearl Producers' Association regroups 15 of the largest pearl companies who represent 60% of the pearl production.
This association is known locally as the SPPP after its French name: Syndicat Professionnel des Producteurs de Perles

G.I.E. Poe O Tahiti Nui
G.I.E. Poe O Tahiti Nui regroups about 32 small and medium size businesses that represent 10% of the local pearl production. This association replaces the previous GIE Tahiti Pearl Producers, which held its first annual international auction in April 1996. It has one representative in GIE Perles de Tahiti's board of directors.

G.I.E. Poe Rava Nui
G.I.E. Poe Rava Nui is a cooperative of 450 family-run micro companies that account for 15% of the pearl production. Their harvests produce pearls for the annual October international auction held in Tahiti. Wholesalers and retailers from all over the world attend this auction. The G.I.E. Poe Rava Nui has three representatives in the G.I.E. Perles de Tahiti.
