Kite Surf : one Polynesian with the elite

One young Polynesian ,Tuterai Montaron,18, is one short position from the top 10 at the end of the 2005 season. Confident that he could reach new ranks this year, he is ready for the challenge.Native of Bora-Bora ,in the archipelago of Island under the wind , Tuterai Montaron discovered the Kite surfing just four years ago. His father brought back from a trip in France, the first Kite surf in Bora Bora , a must see destination for its lagoons.

Two years later, Tuterai win the Polynesian championship and it was the beginning of a life time commitment The Kite surf will dictate his way of life from now on.
In 2005 , after eight events from the “Professional Kite Rider Association”, he finish at the eleventh place.

Move up “4 or 5 ranks “ in 2006.
He could have done better. “I had problems with the material and especially with the wings which were not optimized. In fact, the brand that I was working with was a little behind with equipments evolving everyday”.
2006 will be different. Tuterai Montaron got a new sponsor now, with a high-tech equipment. He is confident as he explain : “That small change will make the difference and I will be able to jump 4 or 5 seat .For the top 3 , he believes that more experience on the tour combine with a physical and mental training is required. Clear-headed , isn’t it ?

“World champion at Seventeen”

The maturity , usually, one of the main attributes to success , is not an absolute condition for kite surf. “Word champion at only seventeen ! it’s really a sport for young people and it required a lot of flexibility and tonicity like gymnastics”.he also believes that he’s got only five years left to go in the professional tour.
Actually in Bora Bora , Tuterai is waiting for the tour schedule expecting to be release in the mid February.
Hopefully , it has been modify to accommodate everyone. Tuterai : “In 2005 ,there was to many come and go between events and we had to go to Europe , then to South America then back to Europe again.This year, the competition will be geographically organized together and it will be set at the rate of one or two per month”.
Now , part of the twelve best Kit surfers on the planet , Tuterai Montaron, will from now on directly access to the final board without all the selective sessions.
