A plus in the Pearl Industry , future jewellers of St Joseph to the honor

The most beautiful creations of the jewels contest organized this month at St Joseph professional college of Punaauia are exposed in PAPEETE until March 15.

The Eden store, located in the Vaima walking street, had dedicated them their “Event”Window .
It was the same window that had presented the 2006 Tahitian Pearl Trophy winner (Tahiti selection) organized every 2 years by Gie Perles de Tahiti.

The Group, in charge of the world promotion, supports also the local initiatives which enrich the pearl industry and in particular the Jewellery creation . It again granted its sponsorship to the contest of the St Joseph college. It emphasizes its section leading to the Certificate of professional capacity "Art of the jewel and the fine jewellery" (CAPE in French).

This first diploma opens the doors of the workshops in the local jewelleries and it also grant the access to higher level of education in France where they could develop more knowledge and techniques. Twenty one students in CAPE formation took part in the contest. They worked during eighteen hours, time limit, to carry out the jewel of their dream after one month of reflexion and drafts before arriving at the final sketch. The tahitian pearl is omnipresent in their creations where silver , mother-of-pearl shell and wood are the accepted raw materials. The topic imposed of this first art work with complete freedom, after months of technical training, was "that flies". Birds and butterflies, but also angels and dragons inspired a number of original jewels. The winner is Heifara Schwarz. His pendent "Vogel" preceded the necklace "Marere" of Edgar Tepa and the belt loop "Moth" of Hitiata Moutham. The students remain owners of the jewels which they created. This contest was the seventh organized by St Joseph college. It takes place every two years, the next one is programmed in 2008.
