


Tahizea Pearl Design opens the Chinese market
The Polynesian company Pearl Design launches out to the conquest of the Chinese market. Its mark of jewels "Tahizea, Tahiti Cultured Pearl" presented during five weeks an exhibition sales at the beginning of January in Shanghai and from mid-January to the beginning of February in Beijing. This event was organized in collaboration with Megachains, local distributor of watches and jewels, with the support of the representation of the Gie Perles de Tahiti in China mainland.
The exhibitions were held in the Parkson Department Store in Shanghai and Beijing where Megachains has several points of sales. The clients of these stores come from the Chinese middle class but also from easier class in Beijing. The partnership with the Gie Perles de Tahiti was to organize fashion shows during the four days preceding Chinese New Year's day. Two models showed that the Tahizea jewels can be worn in any circumstances, with casual, business or night and dressy clothes. This promotion attracted a great number of visitors who were curious to test the jewels and discover the Tahiti Cultured Pearl.
The exhibition will have benefited from the passage of hundreds of people per day when the booth accommodated on average thirty visitors per day. This first test of market allowed a better comprehension of the Chinese consumers. The most educated, and the most sophisticated, showed a great interest for original creations and the culture of the Tahiti Cultured Pearl. The pearls from the seas are perceived like luxury products and most people rather like them on platinum or gold mountings. The diversity of colours intrigues at the first sight but once given the explanation on its origin, the visitors are opened to so various and natural colours.
General public knows little about the pearls and its perception is limited to the current offer of the market. Name "Tahiti Cultured Pearl" is unknown for them contrary to those of "black pearl" or "South Seas Pearl", names the most used. The credibility of the Tahizea brand is made only more crucial from there. Its positioning and its promotion on a market segment targeted in China mainland will be the subject of the future steps of Pearl Design, always in co-operation with Megachains.
From now on, Megachains distributes already the Tahizea brand in Hong Kong. It is merchandized since the beginning of February in its new top-of-the-range shop located at "Hong Kong Central".
